Solo trip to Chicago
A couple weeks ago I took a solo trip to Chicago. I boarded the Amtrak train and headed west to the Windy City. It was only for an overnight, but I needed to use up a free Marriott hotel night. I have been struggling a little with my mental health and sometimes a night away is just what is needed.
Traveling alone was something that scared me at first, but I have grown to enjoy it. All the decisions are my own on what to do, where to eat, what to plan for myself. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy traveling with my friends, too. (See my posts about Salem and NYC!) But there’s something comforting about spending time with the best person I know - ME! :)
I also find that when my life is feeling complicated or confusing sometimes the best thing I can do is spend time journaling, crying, people watching, etc. and that happens best when I’m by myself.
I spent some time shopping for a couple new spring outfits. (one of which I’ll be wearing at a Sapphic Social this weekend!) And I also went to dinner at Eataly. One of my favorite places to eat and buy authentic Italian food to prepare at home.
All in all, I had a wonderful time and I can’t wait to go on another solo trip somewhere even if it’s just to clear my head.
xoxo
